ROHIT PICK THE PHONE TONES HOW TO
They sent me the instructions on how to do a hard reset of the box. The ones I've spoken to have absolutely no idea what to do. I think we all know their customer service policies so I'm stuck with a boat anchor.īy the way, calling Straight Talk about this issue is worthless. I can tell you now, Straight Talk isn't going to replace anything. They replaced the boxes for those using their home phone service.

It never does it on outgoing calls, just incoming.Ī few years ago, AT&T was using this same box and ended up determining it was an issue in the firmware. Three calls on the same day this week, all at different times, all had the three tones blasting through on each incoming call. I will do the same.įor those of you interested if I found any solution, the answer is a big NO! Actually it has gotten worse. If you get a fix for the problem let me know. Happened a few months after purchasing a refurbished unit. But OOMA is also offering a home phone unit through the Sprint network so I may be forced to switch if I can't find a fix. So I guess I'm wanting to find out of anyone else using the Straight Talk ZTE home phone units are having the same problems with odd tones on incoming calls? Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it? I'm required to have a home phone and I do not want to go VOIP and would like to stay with Straight Talk.

I don't want to waste $50 and after the return policy expires be stuck with a defective unit. But the brand new ZTE units on the website are the same. I figure all these refurbished units are probably the ones with the original firmware problems and Straight Talk probably paid little for them, cleaned them up, then sent them out. They said even if I ordered a brand new box, it is a ZTE (same model) and may have the same issues as the box I already have. I have been on the phone with Straight Talk for two days. So in other words, the box reset was a temporary fix and now it is just as bad as it was before.īy the way, it does NOT happen on outgoing calls. Next call was the three tones along with the caller. Then this week, a family member called me and when I answered, I got him and a dial tone (that was a new one).

I did just that and it worked tone free for about a couple of weeks. Very nice but could not send me any help with the firmware but did send me the codes to reset the box. Consumer Cellular also uses the same ZTE units. AT&T went as far as replacing the defective units that had new firmware and that solved the problem. The glitch was discovered when AT&T was using the same box. So I did some research and learned that there are firmware issues with the ZTE Z723EL. Straight Talk was of NO help (imagine that). Usually three tones, the same kind as if you dialed a wrong number. Then another call would come in and the same tones were emitting again along with the caller on the line. To make it stop, I would have to hang up and call them back. They could hear them and I could hear them. I purchased the refurbished ZTE unit from Straight Talk.Ībout a month after connecting it and transferring my number, on occasion, whenever someone would call and I would pick up the phone, a set of three tones would emit on the line with the caller. My Huawei was also a refurb and worked perfectly so I figured the ZTE would probably be just as good. At the time, they offered a refurbished unit and a new unit. So now Straight Talk only offers the ZTE Z723EL unit through their website. I bought my ZTE home phone box several months ago to replace the Huawei box which will soon be obsolete. Are you having issues with tones on the line when someone calls you? Okay, here I am with a question for anyone else using the Straight Talk ZTE Z723EL home phone box.
